Entertaiment is a concept that encompasses any activity or event designed to entertain an audience. This can range from a personal choice of pre-recorded entertainment such as music or movies to events such as social gatherings, festivals, ceremonies or religious celebrations. Entertainment is often associated with amusement, leisure and pleasure and can be a means of escape from everyday reality. Entertainment can also serve a more serious purpose such as the spectacle of a sporting event, theatrical performance or even the satire of a political leader. According to Bates and Ferri (2010), entertainment is defined as an objective activity that communicates between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires audience participation and occurs in a passive form.
